Red Hat Launches Tank OS Open-Source Project to Enhance OpenClaw's Runtime Security
Red Hat's lead software engineer Sally O'Malley recently announced the open-source project Tank OS, which aims to enhance OpenClaw's security through containerization and rootless architecture. The project encapsulates OpenClaw's runtime environment into dedicated containers to prevent host system privilege abuse.
Built on Fedora Linux and fedora-bootc technology, Tank OS uses an immutable OS design—kernel and runtime environment are predefined in images, with most file systems read-only. It also supports isolated operation of multiple AI agent instances, which do not share credentials or resources.
O'Malley noted that improper OpenClaw configuration could lead to data deletion or sensitive information leakage, and Tank OS's design effectively mitigates such risks.
