Robinhood launches AI agent trading tool, bringing hedge fund-level trading to retail investors
US online brokerage Robinhood unveiled an in-app AI assistant called Robinhood Agents at its annual event in Houston. It can answer market questions, build custom investment strategies, and automatically monitor and execute trades when users are away from their screens. CEO Vlad Tenev said the tool brings hedge-fund-level trading capabilities to everyday retail investors.
The feature is built into Robinhood's own app and supports recurring strategies with preset conditions. By default, each trade needs confirmation, but users can turn that off to let the AI trade on its own. The AI can only use funds in a separate agent account. It initially uses models from Anthropic and OpenAI, with OpenAI's Luna model free for the rest of 2026.
Robinhood also plans to launch crypto perpetual futures, earnings-linked options, and weekend stock trading. The company warns users are responsible for all AI trades and has not yet compared returns between agent accounts and regular strategies.
