SK Hynix: AI infrastructure performance to grow 20x by 2030
SK Hynix's development chief Ahn Hyun gave a keynote speech at the 28th Korea Semiconductor Exhibition in Seoul, focusing on how memory tech must evolve in the AI era.
He predicts AI infrastructure performance will grow about 20 times by 2030. The AI inference market is expanding fast in three ways: tasks are getting more complex, more data is processed at once, and request numbers are booming.
As cache data keeps growing, it has to be spread across HBM, DRAM, and SSD. Moving data between them is becoming a new bottleneck that slows things down and burns more power.
SK Hynix is developing 3D stacked DRAM and High Bandwidth Flash (HBF). The goal is to reach about 50% of same-gen HBM bandwidth, with roughly 10 times the capacity.
