SpaceX and Nvidia team up for space AI satellites
SpaceX has announced a partnership with Nvidia to put AI computing power in space. Together, they're building a satellite called Starmind AI1. The plan is huge - a network of up to one million satellites that would work like a giant supercomputer in orbit. This would give us more computing power beyond Earth's data centers, with laser links moving data super fast between satellites.
SpaceX boss Elon Musk said they'll use Nvidia's Vera Rubin systems both on the ground and in space for the Starmind project. He thinks Nvidia's Vera Rubin is the best AI computer out there, so they're only working with Nvidia. If this works, it could really boost how we process data in space, helping with things like deep space exploration and watching Earth from above.
