SpaceXAI (Formerly xAI) to Launch Grok Build Desktop Programming App Competing with Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex
Former xAI has been renamed SpaceXAI, and news of its upcoming desktop programming app Grok Build has recently drawn attention. Today, an unexpected 'Grok Computer' button appeared on the Grok web interface, briefly revealing the app's existence. Though the function was not usable and quickly taken down, it suggests the release process is ready.
Grok Build supports macOS, Linux, and Windows systems, competing with Anthropic's Claude Code and OpenAI's Codex desktop apps. It focuses on agent-based autonomous programming workflows, supporting plugins, Git repository integration, local file management, etc. Some users have already obtained internal test access.
If officially launched, Grok Build may use the Grok 4.3 early access version, which has received positive feedback from testers for its front-end programming capabilities. The release date is not yet announced, but the leak and internal test progress indicate the official version is coming soon.
