Starbucks stops using AI inventory tool in North America
Starbucks has stopped using an AI inventory tool in its North America stores after about nine months. The system was designed to automatically count items like syrup and milk, aiming to improve efficiency and supply chain management.
But in practice, it often miscounted items and struggled to tell apart similar-looking products like oat milk and regular milk, sometimes missing items entirely. Starbucks says it's stopping this to standardize how stores track inventory and focus on consistency across its operations.
