Tencent adjusts AI token quotas, now based on tasks
Tencent has internally announced changes to its AI token quotas, shifting from a unified system to dynamic allocation based on work tasks. The company says total investment will only increase, ensuring tokens for employees who boost efficiency and value, without ranking consumption or creating anxiety.
One employee reportedly wrote three times more code than others, but after the upgrade, his boss proactively increased his quota instead of cutting it. Tencent's senior exec Tang Daosheng earlier said most code this year is AI-generated, with engineers focusing more on architecture and guiding AI output.
