Tencent's WorkBuddy launches a standalone file browser with AI built in
Tencent's AI office app WorkBuddy has launched a standalone file browser. Users can right-click a file in File Explorer or Finder, open it with WorkBuddy, and view it in its own window, ready for AI to analyze, edit, or keep processing. The browser supports Word, Excel, PPT, PDF, Markdown, HTML and more. Multiple files stay open as tabs, and each file keeps its own AI chat. Switching tabs switches the chat too. The feature comes with a WorkBuddy update, no separate download needed. While editing, users can select a paragraph and ask Buddy to rewrite, polish, or expand it, with changes landing right in the document. Word, Excel and PPT edits save back to the local file, while Markdown and HTML save automatically. Users can also get cross-format results through chat, such as asking AI to turn an Excel sheet into a web-based report. Local document work and AI are now more closely connected.
