Tencent says AI now writes most of its code

At Tencent Cloud's AI Industry Conference on June 5, Senior Executive Vice President Tang Daosheng said most of Tencent's code this year is generated by AI. Engineers now focus more on architecture design, guiding and correcting AI output. According to Tencent's Q1 2026 earnings report, its restructured AI team has rebuilt infrastructure and launched the Hy3 preview model. President Liu Chiping said in March that AI investment hit 18 billion yuan last year and will at least double this year, supported by core business growth.
