Trump's push to rename AI as 'Super Intelligence' sparks 2100% surge in Slovenia's .si domain registrations

US President Donald Trump proposed renaming artificial intelligence (AI) as 'Super Intelligence (SI)' during a speech at the UN General Assembly, and signed an executive order requiring US government departments and agencies to use 'SI' instead of 'AI' in official documents.

Slovenia's national domain registry Register.si said the country's domain suffix happens to be .si. In September, 44,000 .si domains were registered, compared to fewer than 2,000 in August — a surge of over 2,100%. On September 30 alone, 11,000 new .si domains were added.

Register.si spokesperson Klara Herman said September registrations were notably higher than other months this year, but was cautious about attributing all the growth to Trump's remarks. The report noted that many registrations may be tied to domain investing, with some people pre-registering specific domains betting on future value and reselling for profit.
