TSMC to Collaborate on Next-Gen LPU Development, NVIDIA's Future LPU Roadmap Revealed
TSMC Chairman C.C. Wei recently revealed at the 2026 Q1 earnings call that the company is collaborating with clients to develop next-generation LPU chips. This is a rare comment from TSMC executives on specific products.
NVIDIA's Groq3 (LP30) LPU, launched at the GTC 2026 conference in March, is manufactured by Samsung. Its Groq3 LPX rack is expected to hit the market in the second half of the year. According to NVIDIA's roadmap, the company plans to launch LP35 (supporting NVFP4 format) in the Rubin generation, and LP40 (supporting NVLink high-speed interconnection) in the Feyman generation.
TSMC also mentioned that its full-year revenue is expected to grow by over 30% in USD terms. The gross margin of its 3nm process will reach the average level in the second half of 2026. Capital expenditure in 2026 will be in the range of $52-56 billion, and capital expenditure in the next three years will be significantly higher than in previous years. The A14 chip will enter mass production in 2028.
