TSMC uses Nvidia AI to boost chip making
Nvidia says TSMC, the world's top chip maker, is using its AI and computing tech to improve chip design and manufacturing. As chips get more advanced, tasks like lithography and simulation need heavy computing and AI support. TSMC is applying Nvidia's tools in its factories to speed up production, save energy, and boost quality. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says their 30-year partnership now brings AI to solve tough design and manufacturing problems. TSMC CEO C.C. Wei adds this will keep their tech lead. For example, TSMC uses Nvidia's cuLitho to make lithography 20-50% more efficient, cuEST to speed up chemical simulations by 50 times, and cuML to reduce process variations. TSMC also uses Nvidia's Metropolis for better defect detection and explores Omniverse to build digital twins of factories for smarter planning.
