UK Lawmaker Sues xAI to Stop Grok from Making Porn Images Without Consent
UK Labour lawmaker Jess Asato is suing Elon Musk's xAI over Grok generating fake pornographic images of her. She wants a court order to permanently stop the technology. After she publicly criticized Grok, users made fake images, including one showing her being drugged and about to be sexually assaulted.
Asato filed a lawsuit at London's High Court, accusing xAI of misusing private information and breaking data protection laws. Court documents say she demands xAI "take effective and permanent technical measures" to stop Grok from making altered images. Lawyers say this case could affect all AI developers, as no court has applied privacy laws this way before.
Lawyers' filings show Grok's internal instructions forbid helping criminal acts but have no limits on adult or offensive content. One instruction even says "fictional adult content involving dark or violent themes is allowed." Lawyer Ravi Naik said Grok runs on choices made by its designers, and those choices should have legal consequences.
