US AI infrastructure faces skilled labor shortage, slowing expansion
Despite a flood of funding, the US AI infrastructure is hitting a wall with a shortage of skilled workers, right after power supply issues. Saint-Gobain CEO Benoit Bazin says data center projects in North America are already affected, and Europe is starting to see the same problem.
AI projects need electricians, high-voltage techs, fiber installers, HVAC experts, and more—roles that require years of training. Even with money ready, the lack of skilled labor is slowing down US AI expansion.
Besides labor, power supply remains the top challenge, with grids, substations, transformers, and transmission lines all under pressure.
