US Court Orders Perplexity AI to Pause Comet Browser's Amazon Shopping Feature
Recently, US San Francisco federal court judge Maxine Chesney issued a preliminary ruling requiring Perplexity AI to suspend its Comet browser agent's behavior of shopping on Amazon on behalf of users. The ruling is stayed for a week to allow Perplexity to appeal.
Amazon stated that the preliminary injunction will prevent Perplexity from accessing its store without authorization, which is an important step in maintaining users' trusted shopping experience. Perplexity said it will continue to fight for internet users' right to choose any artificial intelligence.
