US Pentagon partners with 8 AI companies to deploy AI on classified networks for combat use

These agreements aim to accelerate the US military's transformation into an AI-prioritized combat force and enhance warfighters' decision-making advantages across various domains. The deployment will integrate secure edge AI capabilities into IL6 and IL7 network environments to simplify data synthesis and improve situational awareness. Previously, the Pentagon had a dispute with Anthropic over AI usage terms—Anthropic prohibited its technology from being used for autonomous weapons, prompting the Pentagon to accelerate AI supplier diversification.
