Verizon and Google sign a $1 billion network deal
Verizon CEO Dan Schulman announced on a conference call that the company has signed a deal worth over $1 billion with Google. Verizon will use its unused fiber optic cables to connect Google's data centers. Schulman said building AI infrastructure is one of the biggest investment cycles of this generation. Verizon plans to announce more similar deals this year, which could bring in billions of dollars over the next few years. The company is also turning some of its central offices into AI data centers.
