Visa Launches AI Automated Payment CLI Tool: Enables Machine-to-Machine Transactions Without Human Intervention

Visa's Crypto Labs has released a command-line tool (CLI) that allows AI agents to initiate automated payments directly in the terminal, enabling programmatic transactions without human intervention. It supports automated processes like robots and scripts, eliminates the need for API key management, and can be used for purchasing cloud resources, calling API services, and machine-to-machine payments. Currently in testing, access requires an application via a GitHub account.

Visa stated that as AI shifts from answering questions to executing tasks (such as automatic computing power procurement and micro-payments), payment infrastructure needs to be upgraded to support "command-line commerce". It has also integrated the Machine Payment Protocol (MPP) and collaborated with Coinbase, Cloudflare, etc., to promote AI payment standards, accelerating the development of an AI-native payment ecosystem.
