Walmart Workers Complain AI Tools Add to Workload
Walmart is pushing AI tools to boost efficiency, but frontline workers say these tools are adding to their workload. Employees spend time training AI agents, filling in gaps in work context and human judgment, which slows them down.
On Reddit and other social media, workers complain about various AI issues: task-assigning AI assumes perfect performance every time, e-commerce fulfillment workers can't keep up with AI-planned picking speeds, and delivery drivers report Smart Path sometimes asks them to grab frozen items early, risking thawing.
Also, an AI agent for store security is still learning to interpret camera and sensor data, often sending confusing alerts that workers must correct or provide context for. Walmart says it won't punish workers for not following system guidance, emphasizing that technology is meant to assist, not replace, employee decisions.
