WeChat Releases Governance Announcement: Crack Down on Black/Grey Industry Abusing AI to Generate Illegal Content and Spread Malicious Links

Black and grey industry gangs are abusing AI-generated content services on a large scale to batch produce webpages with illegal content like pornography and gambling, then spread them widely via platform sharing mechanisms. Such acts seriously violate network norms and harm user rights.

WeChat Security Center released a governance announcement saying that once verified, relevant illegal content will be dealt with according to national laws and platform rules—including restricting access to illegal links—to safeguard the platform's ecological security.

Users should stay alert: verify information sources, don't trust unknown links, avoid entering sensitive details (ID, bank card numbers) on untrusted sites, and prevent personal info leaks.
