Xi'an Police Bust AI Rumor Mill Targeting Xiaomi, 14 Arrested

On June 17, police in Xi'an broke a criminal case where AI was used to spread rumors about Xiaomi. Three MCN agencies and 14 people were caught, 4 are in criminal detention. Over 340,000 yuan in illegal funds were found, and 29 computers and 26 phones were seized. All involved accounts have been shut down. Police found these agencies ran many social media accounts, using AI to create fake videos and posts, then randomly posting them across platforms without checking. Xiaomi thanked the police and vowed to use legal measures to protect its reputation.
