Xiaohongshu Crackdowns on AI-Managed Accounts: Bans for Simulating Human Interactions
Recently, the AI tool OpenClaw has gained popularity, sparking a trend of using AI to manage self-media accounts (called 'raising lobsters') across the internet, claiming ordinary people can quickly grow their accounts and gain followers this way. Xiaohongshu noticed some users use AI management to auto-generate content, post notes, and simulate human interactions in comments and other scenarios.
Xiaohongshu's official account announced a strict ban on using technology to simulate real people, create non-genuine content, or fake interactions. For regular accounts with occasional AI use, warnings or content restrictions will be given based on violation severity; accounts fully managed by AI or registered with AI tools will be banned. The platform calls on users to use AI properly and stick to real people sharing real experiences.
