Xiaomi launches and open-sources AI coding assistant MiMo Code
Xiaomi has officially released and open-sourced MiMo Code V0.1.0, an AI coding assistant that runs in the terminal. It's built on OpenCode and uses the MIT license. The tool comes with a free limited-time multimodal model MiMo-V2.5 and also supports connecting to popular models like DeepSeek, Kimi, and GLM for different developer needs.
MiMo Code features a unique persistent memory system with three mechanisms: project memory, session checkpoints, and task progress. This helps solve the "forgetting" problem in long conversations. Even after hundreds of rounds, it keeps output quality. The idea is to let the main agent focus on work while an independent subagent saves the state and rebuilds a clean summary when the window gets full.
There's also a Compose mode: just hit Tab, give a simple idea, and it handles design, planning, coding, testing, and review to deliver a finished product. The /dream command runs every 7 days, letting an agent read past sessions and memory files to merge, deduplicate, verify, and compress them. Plus, it supports voice input and control, so you can fix commands or send actions without touching the keyboard.
