Xiaomi's MiMo AI model gets approved, plans to invest 16 billion yuan in AI by 2026

Chinese regulators recently approved 7 mobile-side generative AI services, including Apple Intelligence and Xiaomi's MiMo model. Xiaomi introduced MiMo as its self-developed large model, covering language, multimodal, and voice capabilities, using cloud-device synergy to power its human-vehicle-home ecosystem.

Xiaomi says AI, chips, and OS are its three core tech investment areas. In 2026, it plans to invest 16 billion yuan in AI, with total investment over the next three years reaching at least 60 billion yuan, driving AI into the physical world.
