Xpeng's IRON robot is coming this fall, mass production by year-end
Xpeng CEO He Xiaopeng said many robot companies haven't even nailed the 'cerebellum'. Walking steadily just means the 'brainstem' and 'spine' are okay. He believes big models make a robot 'brain' possible, so Xpeng will stick with the 'brain' and two legs.
Xpeng's new IRON humanoid robot, shown in November 2024, features a human-like spine, bionic muscles, soft skin, and hands with 22 joints. It walks softly and has a 'brain' for thinking, making it the 'most human-like robot'.
He Xiaopeng said the mass-production version is on track, entering the hardware-software integration phase. It will debut in Q3 2025, with mass production of advanced humanoids by year-end. First use in Xpeng stores, then commercial delivery in China and overseas from 2026.
