Zhipu hits $1B revenue, open-sources GLM-5.2
Chinese AI company Zhipu says its annual recurring revenue hit $1 billion by July 2026, growing from $100 million in just 5 months—much faster than Anthropic's 15 months. Revenue jumped 15x between January and July 2026.
Zhipu was one of the first Chinese firms to focus on coding AI models. It releases new flagship models every two months. In June 2026, it open-sourced GLM-5.2, which matches or beats Claude Opus 4.8 and GPT-5.5 on key benchmarks.
On Code Arena, a front-end coding test with millions of users, GLM-5.2 ranked first among all available models. Zhipu's Hong Kong-listed market cap also passed HK$1 trillion in late June, up over 2000% this year.
