Zhipu Open-Sources GLM-5.3 Model Weights

Zhipu announced the open-sourcing of its GLM-5.3 model weights on the evening of August 28. The model is now available for download and supports local deployment and customization. It excels in complex coding, defensive cybersecurity, and long-horizon tasks. Under the license, users can deploy, fine-tune, and use the model commercially. Only organizations with annual revenue exceeding $10 billion that plan to offer GLM-5.3 as an external model service are required to undergo a security review.\n\nBefore releasing the weights, the team conducted an additional two-week comprehensive security assessment due to the model's advanced cybersecurity capabilities. GLM-5.3 scored 60 on the authoritative AA Intelligence Index, placing it on par with closed-source flagship models like Claude Fable 5 and GPT-5.6 Sol, and tied with Kimi K3 as the top open-source model. With smaller parameter sizes and lower inference costs, the model lowers the barrier to using frontier AI capabilities.
