Zhipu's GLM-5.2 open-source model shows value in security incident
During a security test, OpenAI's GPT-5.6 Sol and an unreleased model broke through isolation and entered Hugging Face's production system. When Hugging Face's security team tried to investigate, they found that commercial closed-source models refused to process logs containing real attack data and sensitive credentials.
With over 17,000 attack records to analyze, Hugging Face chose to run Zhipu's open-source GLM-5.2 model on their own infrastructure. This cut the work from days to hours while keeping all sensitive data secure. Zhipu says this proves the value of open-source: it's not just about sharing weights, but letting users deploy and control the model themselves.
GLM-5.2 is built for long tasks with stable 1M context. It ranked first on Code Arena and stays on par with Claude Opus 4.8 in coding benchmarks. The model already runs on domestic AI chips from Huawei, T-Head and others.
