AI chip startup Etched finishes tape-out, gets over $1 billion in orders
US-based AI chip startup Etched announced its inference accelerator chip has completed A0 step tape-out and built initial racks. The company secured over $1 billion in orders and $800 million in Series B funding, with first rack products expected to ship in summer 2026.
Etched noted existing AI chips generate excessive heat under high load, causing frequency drops and halving real inference throughput. Its new chip, made using TSMC's N4P process, features optimized circuit, packaging, and algorithm design, with math module voltage 50% lower than competitors, achieving over 80% compute efficiency on 1T-parameter sparse MoE models.
For cache, the chip combines on-chip SRAM with off-chip HBM via high-bandwidth interconnect, balancing low latency and large capacity for improved interactivity and throughput under heavy loads.
