AI Helps One-Person Businesses in the US Hit $1M in Revenue
According to the Wall Street Journal, in the age of AI, one-person businesses making over $1 million a year are becoming more common in the US, marking a new era of "solo entrepreneurs." Payment company Stripe estimates that in 2023, about 4 million Americans relied on self-employment as their main income, with annual sales over $100,000, nearly double the number from the early 2010s. Stripe's data shows that by 2025, the number of one-person businesses with sales over $1 million is expected to be about twice that of 2023, and those with sales over $5 million and $10 million are both expected to triple. The report suggests AI is a key driver, as industries with higher AI usage see faster growth in new business applications, though manufacturing and transportation are exceptions.
