AI sales calls are everywhere, one bot can call 1500 people a day
This summer, AI-powered sales calls are getting more annoying. They cover real estate, education, finance, and more. The voices sound robotic because they are AI, not real people. There are two main business models: one charges about 0.14-0.16 yuan per minute for using a robot, and the other rents computing power for 0.12-0.15 yuan per minute. One single bot can make 800 to 1,500 calls a day, way more than a human. The new generation of AI uses large language models and doesn't need pre-written scripts. It can understand emotions and talk differently to each person. These bots cost about 5,000 yuan each. The phone numbers you see are fake too. They look real but actually go through a hidden network. Even if you report them, it's hard for carriers to find them. And if a number gets marked as spam, there's a service to remove that mark quickly. You might get these calls even if you never signed up for anything, because the AI just randomly dials numbers. According to Chinese law, companies can't call you for sales without your permission. You can report them to the 12321 center or use the free service from your phone carrier to block spam calls.
