Akamai Signs $11.6 Billion Seven-Year Deal with Anthropic

Akamai, a US cloud computing and cybersecurity company, announced a major expansion of its partnership with AI company Anthropic. The two firms signed a seven-year contract worth $11.6 billion.

Under the deal, Akamai will use its distributed AI infrastructure and software to meet Anthropic's growing CPU workload needs. The $11.6 billion commitment corresponds to $5.5 billion in additional capital spending for Akamai, and the contract can be expanded by up to $9 billion.

As part of the strategic partnership, Akamai has issued warrants to Anthropic, allowing it to buy up to 5% of Akamai's outstanding common stock. Two percent is tied to this commitment, and the remaining three percent relates to future commitments.
