Alibaba Cloud Aims for 20GW Global Data Centers by 2032, Plans AI Model with 5-10 Trillion Parameters

At the 2026 Yunqi Conference in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, Alibaba CEO Wu Yongming said customer demand for AI is very strong. The company will go all in on AI infrastructure, aiming for Alibaba Cloud to operate over 20GW of global data center capacity by 2032. Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai revealed that the company is steadily building a full-stack AI system with a five-layer structure covering chips, cloud models, model services, and agent applications. Alibaba also plans to train an AI model with 5 to 10 trillion parameters. Wu Yongming believes AI models, AI chips, and AI cloud are the three cornerstones of the machine intelligence era.
