Alibaba launches Qwen3.8-Max, ranking among top AI models globally
Alibaba has launched the Qwen3.8-Max AI model, with a total of 2.4 trillion parameters. The model shows big improvements in coding, office tasks, long-horizon tasks, and multimodal agents, handling complex open-ended goals with minimal human input and delivering reliable results. In the Arena leaderboard, Qwen ranks just behind Anthropic's Claude series, putting it in the top tier globally. The API is now available on the Qwen AI platform and integrated into the new agent product 'Qwen Office.' Model weights will be open-sourced next week, along with Qwen3.8-27B. Developers can access the API via the Qwen AI platform, priced at 12 yuan per million input tokens and 36 yuan per million output tokens in China, with cached hits at only 1.5 yuan. Internationally, prices are 40% and 24% of Opus 5 for input and output, respectively.
