Amazon offers Alexa+ for free on all Fire TV devices in the US
Amazon announced that it will now offer Alexa+ for free on all compatible Fire TV devices in the US, without requiring an Amazon Prime subscription. Previously, non-Prime users had to pay $19.99 per month, and the service was limited to newer devices. With the upgrade, Fire TV gets features like conversational search, smart home control, and AI recommendations. Compatible devices will update automatically, so users don't need to do anything. This includes Fire TV Stick, Fire TV Cube, and smart TVs from brands like Hisense and Panasonic. This move follows the trend of expanding AI in consumer electronics, like Google bringing Gemini to Google TV. Amazon says Alexa+ users on Fire TV are having nearly twice as many conversations as before, and they can ask for things like "recommend a highly-rated thriller" or manage Ring cameras directly on the TV.
