AMD Promises to Greatly Boost AI Data Center Chip Supply by 2027
As demand for generative AI keeps rising, AI data center chips are getting tight around the world, and major chip makers are racing to build more capacity.
AMD CEO Lisa Su said in an interview in the Taiwan region of China that the company can already secure more supply as 2026 moves ahead, and will greatly increase supply by 2027. During this trip, she visited Foxconn and TSMC to help AMD expand its CPU and GPU output for growing AI needs.
Su's remarks did not mention consumer products at all. AI chips bring far higher profits than consumer CPUs and GPUs, so future capacity may tilt toward the data center business, which could affect new product supply for regular buyers.
