Americans Use AI More but Trust It Less: Over 70% Rarely Trust AI-Generated Information
A Quinnipiac University poll shows that while more Americans are using AI (only 27% have never used it, compared to 33% in April 2025), trust remains low: 76% of respondents rarely or occasionally trust AI, and only 21% trust it most of the time. People use AI for research, writing, etc., but are worried about the reliability of its information.
Concerns focus on jobs (70% think AI will reduce positions, Gen Z is most pessimistic), data center impacts (65% oppose nearby construction), and insufficient regulation (66% think government oversight is not enough). Over half of Americans believe AI does more harm than good, with low expectations for its development.
Researchers note that tech layoffs and AI-related negative events have heightened public concerns. Americans accept AI but with many worries; lack of trust and lagging regulation are core issues.
