Anthropic Merges Claude Chat and Cowork, Adds Docs and Slides Tools
Anthropic is merging Claude's chat interface with the Cowork front-end page to reduce confusion when users choose between different feature tabs. The new unified interface lets users access chat, Cowork, and Artifacts (Claude's interactive workspace) in one window. Claude Design, launched in April for web and prototype design, can now also be called from anywhere inside Claude.
With the new interface, Claude can automatically identify user needs and route tasks, so users no longer need to switch tabs or windows manually. Anthropic also added features for making presentations and documents. Users can ask the AI assistant to create, edit, and present slides, and export presentations as PDF or PowerPoint files. With Docs, users can write together with Claude, add sections, ask questions, and add comments. Documents or slides can be shared via link and edited on mobile.
The new features will roll out over the next few weeks first to Claude Pro and Max paid users on web, desktop, and mobile, with plans to bring them to free and team plans later. Before this update, Anthropic had upgraded Cowork's memory layer, helping Claude remember user context across multiple conversations.
