Anthropic stops Claude Code from cloning existing games
Gaming media reports that Anthropic has restricted its Opus 5.5 model in the AI coding tool Claude Code from helping users copy specific existing games. Developers found the rule took effect around October 27 and cannot be turned off.
The new rule allows making original games, games of a certain genre, and games based on users' own designs and assets. But it blocks recreating any specific existing game, even if renamed or claimed as original.
Anthropic technical member Addy Osmani said the company added two guiding lines to Claude Code's prompts to keep the model from recreating others' games. He stressed that using Claude to infringe intellectual property violates the platform's policy.
Public info shows this limit only targets the Opus 5.5 model in Claude Code, and it is unclear whether it extends to other Claude models.
