ChatGPT launches account switching, lets you stay logged in to two accounts

People who use both a personal and a work ChatGPT account used to log out and back in just to switch. OpenAI core product and platform lead Thibault Sottiaux announced on X that the account switching feature is now live on web, iOS, and Android, with desktop coming soon. According to the official changelog, users can stay logged in to two accounts at once and switch quickly without logging out, though only one account stays active at a time. OpenAI noted that accounts don't share chat history, memories, files, or settings, and billing or subscriptions stay separate. Switching doesn't move chats over, and paid features still need a separate subscription on the new account. Users can own more than two accounts, but each device holds at most two logins. On mobile, notifications work per account, and tapping one opens that account directly.
