Apple restricts Siri AI from handling URL links in iOS 27 Beta 2

Tech media reports that in the iOS 27 Beta 2 update, Apple adjusted Siri AI rules, adding a system prompt stating that Siri cannot access URL link content provided by users. When users ask Siri to summarize, read, or extract info from a link, Siri will directly say it cannot do this and won't offer any workarounds.

This change means users can no longer get Siri AI to summarize web link content. Media speculates this might be linked to Apple's web ecosystem strategy. As AI chatbots directly grab and summarize website content, users might stop visiting original pages, hurting web content business models.

In iOS 27's Safari browser, users can still use Apple Intelligence to summarize a webpage they are currently viewing, but this feature only works for open pages, not for URL links provided by users.
