Apple's Official App Accidentally Leaks Claude.md File, Confirming Internal Use of Claude Code for App Development
Apple's official after-sales service app Apple Support accidentally included the Claude.md file in its v5.13 update pushed on May 1st. The file was discovered and exposed by MacRumors analyst Aaron Perris. Apple urgently withdrew the version within 24 hours, but some content had already been leaked.
The leaked Claude.md file reveals the dual-backend architecture of Apple Support's chat system: Juno AI handles automatic responses, while human agents take over via Live Agents. The two systems switch seamlessly through a protocol layer, and users cannot distinguish whether responses come from AI or humans. This confirms Apple internally uses Claude Code to develop production-level applications.
Earlier, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reported Apple runs custom Claude models on its own servers, with data not leaving the company's infrastructure. Although Apple collaborates with Google to use Gemini for Siri, it still chooses Claude for internal development tools. A former Apple employee stated only some teams use Claude, not the entire company.
