Apple Teams Up with Alibaba's Qwen for Apple Intelligence in China

Apple has published a support document on its Chinese website confirming that its Apple Intelligence feature will work with Alibaba's Qwen model. The extension requires macOS 26.6 or later, a Mac sold in mainland China, and an Apple account set to mainland China. Users can enable Qwen in System Settings under Apple Intelligence & Siri, and it supports tools like Writing Tools and Siri. For example, you can ask Siri to have Qwen write a poem or summarize a document. Qwen has been approved by Chinese regulators, and Apple CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the first Apple Intelligence features are now approved in China. Alibaba says Qwen will be integrated into Apple Intelligence, offering text and image understanding to users on iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and visionOS.
