Beijing Police Bust 'AI Undress' Black Market Involving Over 27,000 People
A recent CCTV report exposed an 'AI Undress' black market where ordinary photos are turned into fake nude images. Investigators found tutorials on social media, with bloggers sharing or charging for access. In a case from Beijing's Haidian District, suspect Zhang set up overseas groups to sell AI software and tutorials, making over 100,000 yuan.
The software uses open-source AI models trained with specific keywords, making it easy to generate fake images in seconds. Over 27,000 group members paid for it. Prosecutors say the tech itself isn't illegal, but using it for blackmail or spreading fake images is a crime.
The chain has three layers: top-level developers modify AI models, middle-level users mass-produce images, and bottom-level criminals use them for extortion. China has issued rules for generative AI services, reminding users that illegal use of AI tools will face legal consequences.
