Broadcom Plans to Raise $60 Billion for AI Chip Projects, Benefiting Anthropic and Others
According to Bloomberg, Broadcom is in talks with several lenders to borrow over $60 billion for an AI chip financing project, which will support companies like Anthropic. Sources say the plan includes about $30 billion in subordinated debt, and Broadcom will partially guarantee a $60-70 billion senior secured debt tranche. The total could reach $100 billion. As tech giants seek in-house chips to reduce reliance on Nvidia, Broadcom plays a key role in designing custom chips for Alphabet and Meta, and has chip supply deals with Anthropic and OpenAI. Blackstone and Apollo are in talks to join the financing, but negotiations are ongoing and details may change. Broadcom, Anthropic, Apollo, and Blackstone declined to comment.
