ByteDance to Launch Standalone Office Product to Rival Tencent WorkBuddy

ByteDance's Doubao team plans to release a standalone office product next week, competing with Tencent's WorkBuddy. The product will split the 'work tasks' mode from the Doubao app into a separate application. Currently, the Doubao web version has a separate 'new work tasks' entry alongside 'new chat'. Recently, Doubao updated the mode with features like remote computer control via phone, virtual desktop for Windows, and a side workbar. CEO Liang Rubo said resources will focus on AI and other core businesses, making Doubao a new AI pillar. Previously, Feishu and Doubao teams were integrated for deeper collaboration in productivity scenarios.
