China's AI Power Surge: Green Energy Becomes Key
As AI computing demand surges, data centers in China are consuming massive electricity. A single 10,000-GPU cluster uses at least 200,000 kWh daily, and by 2030, national computing power could require 800 billion kWh annually.
To address this, China is accelerating green energy adoption. By end of June, non-fossil energy capacity hit 2.52 billion kW, making up 62.4% of total capacity. New electricity demand is almost fully met by green power. Data centers in Inner Mongolia and Gansu now use over 80% green electricity, with 172 centers earning green certification.
The East-to-West Computing Project has attracted trillions in investment, tackling high energy use and renewable fluctuations. By 2030, nearly 600 billion kWh of green power will flow into the grid, boosting China's AI competitiveness worldwide.
