China's 'Fenghe' Model Passes Review for Operational Use
China's Meteorological Administration announced that its AI weather service system, the 'Fenghe' model V1.0, has passed expert review and is now approved for operational use. As the world's first weather model with 100 billion parameters, Fenghe can understand requests, generate content, make decisions, and use tools, serving as a foundation for weather services. Tests show it outperforms general models in understanding needs, and it has been registered with the Cyberspace Administration. Fenghe provides personalized weather info and risk alerts to the public in China, and its international version, integrated with the 'Mazu' plan, offers Q&A and risk analysis in Chinese and English globally. Developed with institutes like Zhipu, it was trained on 50 million tokens of weather data and has launched an open-source initiative.
