China UnionPay teams up with 15 banks to launch AI-powered bank cards
China UnionPay announced a new AI agent bank card solution on July 20, teaming up with 15 commercial banks to start the 'AI agent' era for bank cards. These cards include big model computing power, AI membership, and AI office tools, turning bank cards from payment tools into AI service carriers. UnionPay opens its AI capabilities to partners through standardized interfaces.
For payments, UnionPay has rolled out one-click smart payment, with apps like Umetrip and Didi as first testers. Ping An Bank, together with UnionPay and Tencent Cloud, launched the 'AI Smart Computing Card'. SPD Bank partnered with UnionPay and Alibaba Cloud for a tech elite credit card. Bank of Communications also introduced an AI-themed debit card. More banks like ICBC and ABC will follow.
UnionPay is also expanding payment to cars, AR glasses, and MR headsets. In cars, users can order food or charge via voice. On glasses, they can select cards, apply discounts, and confirm payments with voice, eye movements, or gestures.
