Chinese AI model debuts in Samsung's flagship phones

Samsung launched three foldable phones at its London event: Galaxy Z Fold8, Z Fold8 Ultra, and Z Flip8. Chinese AI firm Mianbi Intelligence said its MiniCPM models will power Samsung's Galaxy AI on the Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra, handling text and image understanding. It's the first time a Chinese edge AI model runs on a global flagship phone. The Z Fold8 has a new 4:3 screen and 4800mAh battery. The Z Fold8 Ultra packs a 200MP camera and 5000mAh battery. Mianbi was founded in 2022, spun off from Tsinghua University's NLP lab.
